Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling his recent statement “reprehensible” and demanding an apology from both Gandhi and the Congress party. Comparing governance records, the Chief Minister highlighted that before 2014, under the Congress rule, only 17 lakh elderly people in Haryana received old-age pensions. In contrast, the current government provides a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to over 36 lakh elderly citizens.
He noted that during Congress’s 10-year tenure, farmers received just Rs 1,155 crore in crop damage compensation, compared to Rs 15,145 crore disbursed by the present administration over a similar period. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the poor struggled to access medical care under the previous Congress government. In contrast, the Ayushman Bharat scheme has delivered free treatment worth Rs 2,767 crore to over 20 lakh underprivileged individuals.
On education, he contrasted Congress’s record of building six medical colleges in 10 years with the current government’s achievement of establishing nine, with nine more under construction. MBBS seats have risen from 700 to 2,185, with plans to reach 3,485 in the coming years.
