The Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods such as jerry cans, water purifiers, and generators through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Republic of Vanuatu in response to the damages caused by the earthquake in Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu.
Driven by a strong sense of international solidarity and the close relations between Japan and Vanuatu, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to Vanuatu to help people affected by the disaster.
The Government of Japan stands with the Government and people of Vanuatu. It will work closely with them to recover and reconstruct damaged areas, including the regions of Port Vila and [specific area], and provide additional assistance where needed.
On December 17, 2024 (PGT), a devastating earthquake struck Port Vila, the capital of the Republic of Vanuatu, affecting approximately 8,000 people, tragically leaving 12 dead and more than 200 injured.
