Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a comprehensive development plan for Nuh district during the 31st meeting of the Mewat Development Board in Nuh on Friday. Chairing the meeting, Saini approved welfare schemes aimed at advancing education, infrastructure, and skill development, highlighting Nuh’s rise from 108th to 20th place in the Aspirational Districts Programme rankings since 2018.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mewat Chhatar Pratibha Samman Yojana, students scoring above 90% in Classes 10 and 12 will receive Rs 51,000, while Scheduled Caste students will get Rs 1,11,000. Scholarships of up to Rs 1.25 lakh annually will support professional, technical, and medical courses, with a 17% reservation for Hathin candidates and 50% scholarships for female students. Financial aid for Class 11 and 12 students, as well as competitive exam preparation, was also announced under the Mukhyamantri Mewat Utthan Yojana.
Saini credited the coordinated efforts of central and state governments for progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and financial inclusion. Key approvals include transferring the Government Model Sanskriti School to the Mewat Development Authority, initiating construction of a Unani Medical College in Akera, a Mewat Model College in Ferozepur Jhirka, and a Driving Training and Research Institute in Chhapera by October 2025. A Rs 13.50 crore sports complex, an auditorium in Nuh, a Hunar Haat in Tauru for women’s empowerment, and transit hostels at Mewat Model School were also greenlit.
To enhance education, libraries will be built across Nuh: a 200-seat facility at the district headquarters, 100-seat libraries in Firozpur Jhirka, Punhana, and Tauru, and 50-seat libraries in villages with over 5,000 residents. A skill innovation center will provide vocational training, while a water harvesting system in the Aravalli region and irrigation upgrades aim to improve water management.
Saini extended Eid greetings and announced a museum to honor Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati. Industry Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, local MLAs, and senior officials, including Gurugram Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Chandra Bidhan and Deputy Commissioner Vishram Meena, attended the meeting.
