Sanya, China: Over 450 tourism industry leaders from across the globe convened in Sanya on June 8 for the Overseas Tour Operators Hainan Tour 2025, actively exploring new opportunities in China’s tropical island province.
The event, themed “Travel to Meet the World,” highlighted Hainan’s strides in enhancing international visitor experiences through innovations such as streamlined payments, multilingual services, visa-free policies, and expanded air connectivity.
Enterprises from 18 cities and counties across Hainan showcased their distinctive cultural, tourism, and creative products, engaging in direct talks with global travel agencies to forge stronger tourism ties. Transitioning to a global stage, the event underscored Hainan’s ambition to become a leading international tourism hub.
Zhu Shanzhong, ambassador of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, emphasized that Hainan is capitalizing on its Free Trade Port policies and rich tourism resources to accelerate the development of an international tourism consumption center. “Hainan’s integrated industrial system is a game-changer,” he noted.
Peter Semone, chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, praised Hainan’s natural beauty and growing cultural heritage. “Through innovation and sustainable practices, Hainan can set a benchmark for tourism in the Asia-Pacific, balancing service quality with resource protection,” he said, signaling the province’s potential to shape a meaningful regional tourism economy.
At the same time, Lee Kwah Ho, CEO of South Korea’s LK Global, plans to promote Hainan’s premium hotels for high-end coastal vacations. Similarly, Florence Lo, director of iStudent Tour (HK) Limited, announced plans to collaborate with Hainan’s scenic spots for Hong Kong student field trips, highlighting the province’s appeal to diverse markets.
