The Russian government has slammed Australia for helping Ukraine after an Australian mercenary was captured in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, while speaking to the media, criticized Canberra for allegedly enabling such incidents. ‘If these reports are verified, it will be Canberra that is to blame, as it actively supports Australian mercenaries, who are believed to be participating in the conflict on the side of the Kyiv regime,’ she remarked.
‘Unfortunately, there seems to be little hope for improvement in the Australian political establishment’s hostile stance toward Russia.’
The spokeswoman also accused Australia of aligning itself with what she described as the ‘Russophobic policies’ of the collective West, which she claims are aimed at isolating and undermining Russia on the global stage. ‘Canberra obediently follows in the footsteps of Western nations pursuing anti-Russian agendas,’ she asserted.
Zakharova highlighted Australia’s support for Ukraine, “Australia has contributed $600 million to the Kyiv regime. And what has this support led to? We can all see Ukraine’s collapse.”
The situation remains under intense scrutiny as officials from both nations diligently assess the circumstances surrounding the reported capture. This ongoing investigation is a testament to both countries’ commitment to resolving this matter.
Australia has reached out to Russia regarding the reported capture of an Australian mercenary in the special military operation zone, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed during a briefing.
“I can confirm that Australia has indeed contacted us on this matter. Efforts are currently underway to verify reports about the captured Australian citizen.
Relevant agencies are monitoring the situation,” Zakharova stated, responding to inquiries about reports of Australian mercenary Jenkins being detained in the conflict zone. “We are committed to sharing verified information as soon as we obtain it,” she added, informing the public.
